CRS 2020 with Josh Gallagher
From making history on The Voice, touring with legends, a #1 Video, and a new EP, Josh Gallagher spends some time with us in Nashville during Country Radio Seminar
We caught up with Josh Gallagher, during Country Radio Seminar in Nashville, who you will remember from season 11 of NBC's The Voice. Gallagher made history during his season as the first country artist that coach Adam Levine has led to the finale. As much as I have no doubt that Levine did a terrific job as a coach, Gallagher came out of the gate during his audition and had a two-chair turn, singing The Brothers Osborne's "Stay A Little Longer." Levine had his chance to snag Gallagher during the battle rounds and used a "steal" to acquire the sensation we all know and love today. While he did not ultimately have the title "Winner of The Voice," I do believe everything happens for a reason and Gallagher has definitely found that to be the case with his career continuing to soar since the finale.
Gallagher held the #1 spot for 8 weeks on CMT's 12 Pack Countdown with his single, "Boots Like Mine," and he is announcing his sophomore EP, Turn Around Town, which is available on all platforms beginning March 27, 2020. When he talks about this new project, you can not help but get excited to listen to every song. "I'm starting to reveal an entirely new chapter of my music. This is the first time I feel like I've really been able to be completely transparent with who I am, and I'm incredibly excited for my fans to see that. As an artist, you always want every project to be better than the last, and Turn Around Town is hands-down the best music I've ever put out. Every song sounds different, but they will all belong together. Turn Around Town is 100% me, and I can't wait to share that with all of you."
Check out our interview as we discuss the upcoming EP, what he does during his downtime and his exciting touring schedule. We also have some fun as friend and colleague, Adam Warner, drops by for a quick "hello" that you do not want to miss.
Also, make sure to Like, Share, Follow and Subscribe at the links below and check out Billboard on Thursday, March 12th for an exclusive premiere of the lead single from the new EP, "Long Week Long Neck."
Josh, thank you for taking the time to talk with us and for the laughs. It was great to catch up with you and we look forward to seeing you again very soon. We can not wait for what happens next!
More About Josh Gallagher:
Josh Gallagher writes songs destined to root themselves inside your brain and bring you back to the first moment you heard them every time you listen; he’s not just making music, he’s crafting memories.
Doggedly likable and unashamedly himself, the Pennsylvania native has a ‘no-bullshit’ kind of charm, earning praise from the likes of Rolling Stone and CMT, along with some of country music’s greatest heroes. “This kid,” Garth Brooks said of Gallagher, “as soon as he opens his mouth — you believe him.”
In 2017, Josh Gallagher forced the world to rear its head on season 11 of NBC’s The Voice, making history as the first country artist coach Adam Levine has ever led to the show’s finale.
Since then, Josh Gallagher has proved he can hold his own on stage with Randy Houser, Eric Paslay, Lee Ann Womack, Cole Swindell and more. Gallagher’s video How ‘Bout You held the No. 1 spot on CMT’s 12-Pack Countdown for 5 consecutive weeks, where he was also spotlighted as a rising star through the network’s Artist Discovery initiative.
In a genre with blurred lines and pandering hits running on borrowed time, Josh Gallagher has established his own distinct voice, showing no sign of fading away quietly.
His debut project Josh Gallagher (EP) is what die-hard country fans all across the nation have been waiting for. The self-penned, 6 song saga of a man hell-bent on waving his honky-tonk flag high, Josh Gallagher (EP) came to life alongside multi-Grammy-winning producer Chad Carlson, whose previous clientele includes the likes of Taylor Swift and Alison Krauss.
