Exclusive Premiere: Erica Nicole Releases Acoustic Video for "Where Are You Christmas"
Although, no stranger to "firsts" in this business, Nicole admits that the idea for this project began as a bucket list item, with six recordings of Christmas songs with no intention of ever releasing it.
The track, "Where Are You Christmas", was penned by James Horner, Will Jennings and Mariah Carey for the movie, How The Grinch Stole Christmas (2000), with actress Taylor Momsem (Cindy Lou) singing a shorter version in the film and Faith Hill performing the full version on the movie soundtrack.
With my first listen to Nicole's version, I ended up with a hand full of tissues. The emotion that she brings to each and every lyric in this song breaks through, straight to the heart and soul. This song is a question of where did all the joy and happiness that surrounds Christmas go? We get so caught up in the routine of everyday life and in issues that are not so important in the "big scheme of things", that we tend to lose focus on the meaning of this holiday. If we could all go back every December and find "that Christmas", whatever it is for each of us, we would remember that laughter and realize that even though life changes, we do get older, we do have all the stresses of everyday life in all the "rearranging and changing", however, those Christmases are still here.
Nicole's emotional and deliberate intention in this song are felt, over and over and are appreciated. As a listener, a fan, a journalist, as well as someone who, herself, has recently wondered "where Christmas went", I have to applaud and say thank you to Nicole for reminding me of this message through her amazing gift of music.
Make sure you check out the video below that was directed and produced by Derrek Kupish of dkupishproductions and get your copy of Nicole's Christmas EP, Merry Christmas To You, this is truly one of the best Christmas compilations in a long time and I can not wait to see what happens next for this amazing artist.
