More details to come, but in the meantime here’s the blog post from our CEO Roger Lynch:
By Roger Lynch, CEO at Pandora:
At Pandora, we know music education has the power to change kids’ lives in meaningful and lasting ways. That’s why I’m thrilled to share our newly expanded partnership with Little Kids Rock to bring their innovative “Modern Band” program to more schools and more students across the country in 2019.
Little Kids Rock is an organization that supports and complements the incredible work of public school music teachers across the country. Through its “Modern Band Program,” Little Kids Rock empowers educators to teach kids to play the music that is culturally relevant to them – from Pop to Hip Hop to Rock.
Pandora has been a proud supporter of Little Kids Rock since 2015. Together, we’ve rolled out music education programs to schools in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and Oakland. Last year, we focused our efforts on the Oakland community, providing funds for Little Kids Rock to bring music education programming to the entire Oakland Unified Public School District. As a result, the team at Little Kids Rock trained dozens of teachers, donated hundreds of instruments and brought the gift of music to thousands of students.
This year, we’re expanding our efforts to bring Little Kids Rock’s “Modern Band” program to 12 new schools in the Bay Area, Nashville and Atlanta. The program focuses on improvisation, composition and getting kids to make music immediately. Kids come out of the program proficient in playing the music that inspires them and, most importantly, are more engaged with school and learning in and out of the classroom.
Support of the “Modern Band” program is just one part of our overall relationship with Little Kids Rock. But it is, by far, my favorite because you can see firsthand the power music education has on inspiring the next generation of artists and fans.
We’re looking forward to a fantastic year with Little Kids Rock and will continue to share updates on our work together. In the meantime, if you’d like to learn more or join the cause of music education, please check out www.littlekidsrock.org.
